Smart Objects, in conjunction with Actions, can speed up your workflow by providing adjustable steps to producing mockups and customizing your images. I will show you the basics of how Smart Objects and Actions work. You’ll learn how to take the basic Photoshop Action and run it with the Batch Automation so you can quickly edit tons of images. I will show you how to automate actions further with Droplets and Scripts to save you valuable time. And the juiciest tidbit I have saved for Lesson 5 - using the script!
At the end of this class, I encourage you to try out this aspect of Photoshop to make your mockup, save it, and then upload and share your finished image as a project for this class.
In this tutorial we’ll create a Photoshop action that resizes the images to 5x7”, 300 pixels per inch. In the mock-ups, you just open the smart object and replace the image, save, and close the smart object, then save the main image as a .jpg and you're done.
But wait! That’s not all!
You will use the 5x7” images, along with Photoshop’s batch and action automation features to replace the Smart Object Placeholder in your mock-up document. You will then produce the mockups utilizing Batch Processing, a Droplet you create, or the attached Script. With the Script, you can process hundreds or even thousands of images onto mockups, super quickly and efficiently!
