About the Class

Creating a basic stripe in Procreate is not the most difficult pattern repeat you will ever make, but what if you want to create a really unique stripe? Can you imagine a fun and crazy organic stripe? What about one with detailed layers? It is a little bit harder to create these, but I can show you how I would do it. I use stripes in many of my pattern collections, so knowing how to create a variety is a real asset.

My motivation for this was creating another type of blender print to add to fabric collections, but these ideas would be great for scrapbook paper, wallpaper, website graphics, or anywhere else you can imagine.

This class, The Perfect Stripe Repeat in Procreate, will show you my stripe planning and execution and how to use random brushes to create a layered and detail-rich stripe.

In the class, I take you from start to finish in creating 5 completely different stripes. We will use the automations we created in a previous class, so if you haven’t done that class, you might want to go and do that class first (Pattern Templates and Automation in Procreate).

I will show you numerous methods for altering colors too. Depending on how many layers you create, this can be very useful if you are trying to create a bunch of different patterns. One of my goals is to show you how we’ll be able to create an alternate design with a very different background.

In this class I’ll walk you through:

  • working with automated pattern repeats in Procreate
  • tips for creating composite, layered stripes with plenty of interest
  • my workflow for matching stripe ends in the repeat
  • adjusting colors and using details and alternate brushes to add interest
  • methods for keeping the art editable for later adjustments and recoloring

Do you design patterns for fabric? Are you looking for methods to make stripes more interesting? This class should help give you some ideas to do just that. With the step-by-step instructions provided, you will be able to create some real variety in your stripes!

The key concepts I will include:

·   another application of your pattern automations

·   matching stripes for a perfect repeat

·   experiments for unique stripe creations

Take the time to work through this class and you will always have a method to add blender prints to fabric collections, or anything else you need stripes for. Variety is the name of the game!
